I’m pretty sure this isn’t an essay  on Fitness!! >:0

Does anyone else hate when you need to study but you randomly start questioning the foundation of your standards and self-esteem?

Anyhow, this is dedicated to Alistair. My crush at the moment from Dragon Age: Origins. :'D

I know exactly how that feels, haha. Kinda of sucks how the logic seems to make sense, but doesn't really work in reality. Plus, even if it was true, chances are it'd probably be the author, and there's no chance of romance there. D:

A very uplifting and insight comic indeed :D I recently broke up with my boyfriend of 3 years (he is actually super similar to yours which is what got me into your comics xD) and the way I view it and it could just be me; but society has drilled it into our brains that if you're not constantly in a relationship there is something wrong with you, and you know what? Its perfectly okay to wait for what you truly deserve rather than jumping into the next closest relationship you can think of just because society says that's what you should want :)

P.S; Dragon Age: Origins for the epic win! :D

Fictional or not~ It doesn't deny the possibility that such an individual might exist, although minus all the super powers and such, maybe with other talents and interests instead. Then when one encounters such a person, one doesn't always know them~ nor is it certain that the individual in question will actually like one back that way. I got to say, how frickin' difficult is it supposed to be to find such a person!? I'm getting craaaazy here, can't say, that I weren't already crazy, but that's a whole other matter.

Buuuut yeah, reality can wait, I'm satisfied with new anime episodes and manga chapters =w= aaand when thinking about them, it's refreshing to read your comic, whether it's about everyday stuff or not, it's still interesting! *___* might be that I like the art style .__.

YES. THIS. RIGHT HERE.

I've always been infatuated with fictitious guys, even if they weren't human. Always. I've had a crush on Mickey Mouse to Rayman to Simba...it got better over the years as I've crushed over actual guys (undead and human alike) but those expectations tend to carry on to real life...and when those expectations aren't filled, disappointment occurs.

So, once I get out of the fictitious boyfriend phase (and it may be awhile), I'm gonna enjoy them all!

call me a romantic but I do believe there is someone out there with all the traits we desire and our traits are what they want. With 7 billion people it just might take awhile to find them  but as long as we don't give up it might happen someday :)

I don't think the problem, if it could even really be considered such, is that you hold people to such an unrealistically high standard, I think it's more that most people don't hold THEMSELVES to those high standards.

I mean we all grew up with great fiction, and back then heroes were still people to aspire to be. But in the time between then and now (and even starting back around the point we were kids, really), society's done this annoying little shift where we all learn it's okay to just be ourselves and that we don't have to strive to improve anymore because we're all so precious and perfect and blehhhhhh. And then over time those role-model heroes eventually got phased out and replaced with twerps we can "relate to," so that we wouldn't feel ashamed about not being as good as those heroes or some such.

I'm a wordy little bastard. Terrible habit.

On another note: adorable comic. Loved it when I saw it on Tumblr, but I've always liked DA posts more :D

Oh my goodness I agree so much with you!

I find it cruel and almost offensive how even the most noble of stories are diluted with teen drama and "tragically human" characters. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that writers are striving for realism, but it tends to lower what we want to strive for and kills imaginations. This generation already has a problem with low self-esteem, so it's a burden to criticize a person's own standards when society barely gives them room to set their own.

Thanks for your support and I loved reading your input!

You definitely have a point about the obsession with twerps. How often do we see people make blog posts about how everything is going terribly and FML forever, or being ironically proud of mundane activity ("I had a sandwich!" "I love my cat!").

Though you could argue the shift happens to each of us individually from childhood up to adulthood as well. Every small kid goes into a story rooting for the hero, knowing the obvious difference between good and evil. But then as they get older their fascination turns to more complex, darker, and even outright villainous characters. After all, villains are the ones who can do whatever they want and defy the social norms that are forced on us in real life, whether we like it or not. ;P

But to the original point, the best thing to do sometimes is simply take a step back and indeed focus on actually bettering yourself than getting too lost in the lives of the fictional. ☺

well,  in a sense one could always go for RolePlaying,  i mean its one way to interact with characters that you may end up liking and well,  its awesome.  Nothing like giving your reactions in your own character.  (unless you start acting out expressions that your characters are doing by mistake : P)

You should meet my friends Perthe Isriana Anivel lesatho Canadian-Rainwater mygoodrabbit even though we're all connected through Star Wars: The Old Republic, we're still all a bunch of Bioware geeks. Plus, they would love you ever since you got into Dragon Age: Origins.

Unrelated note, if you do happen to find yourself playing Star Wars: The Old Republic, join the Shadowlands server if you just want to play & fight enemies. Otherwise, go for Ebon Hawk to interact with a lot of us through roleplay! :D

I agree. Most definitely. But who's to say we/people don't deserve high standards? As long as they know what's best for them, and as long as they stay true to themselves. I think it's all part of being strong and developing your own idea of who you are and who you love.

I think this is why I loved writing and creating stories. There's something about designing a character that lets them take on a life of their own to the point that even the author can't MAKE them do anything that they want them to do because... well they just seem so real. It's an amazing feeling when it gets to that point :) Suddenly your characters you've made also become your friends :)
